America has a milestone birthday coming up in 2026! The United States of America will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and our hard-fought freedom, making it the largest celebration in American history.
What is America 250?
In 2016, Congress created the United States Semiquincentennial Commission, a bipartisan task force designed to plan America’s 250th birthday celebration. America 250 (america250.org) is the nonprofit organization supporting the initiative, and they have joined the hands and hearts of communities across city, state and party lines to come together in commemoration of our founding fathers and all the American heroes who came after them in our great American story.
America 250-Ohio is charged with representing the Buckeye State in this national celebration, and they have truly outdone themselves. All 88 counties in Ohio are working together, locally, regionally and state-wide, to showcase Ohio’s vast contributions to American history and highlight all of the people who make Ohio’s future so bright.
How to Celebrate Locally
You don’t need to travel to New York or Philadelphia to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary. There are opportunities right here in the Mahoning County to enjoy all of the contributions our own region has made to our country. Our unique local culture is woven into the fabric of America, and we are so proud to represent our community in this national celebration.
All year long, we will keep this page up to date with all of the people, places and events happening in the Youngstown area. Check back often so you don’t miss a single exciting opportunity to celebrate 250 years of American independence.
