First Wednesday Reader Series

First Wednesday Reader Series presents poets Mary Quade of Madison, Ohio, and Steve Skovensky of Columbus on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00pm at the Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave. This reading will be downstairs in the Trophy Room, accessible only by stairs. The reading, sponsored by POP! Art Books Culture is free and open to the public. Following the reading, there will be an open mic.

Mary Quade is the author of Guide to Native Beasts (Cleveland State University Poetry Center) and Local Extinctions (Gold Wake) and the winner of the 2022 the Journal Non/Fiction Prize. Look for her newest book Zoo World: Essays, from The Ohio State University Press Mad Creek Books.

Steve Skovensky of Columbus is originally from Northeast Ohio. During his time at  Kent State, he became acquainted with Major Ragain, Ted Lyons, Alice Cone and other poets of the region. His words reflect both the work he has done with people experiencing homelessness as well as the joy he has with his family.

The First Wednesday reading in October will feature fiction writer Michael Dittman of Western Pennsylvania & Shei Sanchez of Athens, Ohio.
